Moorestown Friends School

Moorestown Friends School

Moorestown, NJ

The Moorestown Friends School campus, located in the center of Moorestown NJ and serving students from preschool through 12th grade, had developed organically over time with a variety of structures. As their growth continued, the school decided a master plan was needed to guide their future development plans, and the preservation of their existing assets.

Major program deficiencies and the need for new, improved, and expanded facilities were identified in the design process, and a special emphasis was placed on expanding the school’s arts and athletics programs. The master plan resulted in approximately 30,000 sf of new construction and renovations/adaptive reuse of roughly 28,000 sf.

Over a ten-year period, campus improvements included:

  • New Field House addition
  • New Dining Commons building
  • Restoration & adaptive reuse of historic West Building
  • Renovation and expansion of art and woodshop classrooms
  • Improvements to auditorium and theater arts program
  • Rebuilding of tennis courts
  • Renovation of library and science labs
  • Improvements to site circulation and bus pickup
  • Development of deferred maintenance program for total campusÂ
