With a long tradition in their North Philadelphia location, St. Joseph’s Preparatory School has earned a reputation as a leading college prep school, dedicated to educating young men from the city and the surrounding areas. That tradition included a fifty-year-old academic building with old-style classrooms and an underutilized library. A makeover was needed bring the space up to 21st century educational standards. 

MAI and the staff at the Prep developed plans to transform their library into a vibrant school learning commons, with areas for student collaboration, technology and maker spaces, guidance and learning support all integrated into a central, two story hub. Classrooms are to be upgraded to incorporate the latest in technology while improving the learning environment. On the exterior, new sitework is planned to integrate outdoor learning spaces and increase accessibility, and a welcoming new glass entry will lead to the renovated atrium known and loved by generations of students.

These improvements at the Prep will ensure its school environment will continue to serve and enrich their students for generations to come.
